Christmas Parade

It's been a while since I updated so once again I'm starting with what is recent. This weekend was parade weekend. We decided we would go to the Hugo parade this year. We've heard it was a neat parade to go see. Well it was your typical small town parade until you get to the end. This is what we saw...

Santa was looking down and waving at Joseph. He was screaming HI at the top of his lungs. Behind this was the elephant trailer. Didn't think to take a picture of that it was just a semi trailer with a couple of doors on either side.

There is a circus based in Hugo and every year Santa rides on an elephant. There is also a place called the Endangered Ark. It is a place that takes care of retired elephants. I think they also take care of elephants that have been injured. I want to say that at one time I went to their website and it said that they had 60 or so elephants there.
Anyway the kids enjoyed it. They collected pockets full of candy.

Finally the last post.

Laura's class had to decorate pumpkins as a storybook character. She chose the Cat in the Hat. I think he turned out quite well.

Fall Festival

The scouts had a fall festival in hopes to raise some money. The kids got to wear their halloween costumes. Sorry about the blurry pictures. For some reason whenever Chad takes pictures they turn out blurry. He must not be holding his mouth right.

Paul was Ben 10, Laura was a black cat, Joseph was batman.

Mom and Me

It was a pirate theme this year. Paul and Ross did not want to do the activities this year. So we mainly just sat around camp. They both said that they had a good time. This year they had made a bowling lane and they could earn a beltloop. The Paris bowling alley gave them old pins and balls to use. I think we need one in our back yard.
One of the few activities Paul wanted to do was the monkey bridge.
The theme for Dad and Lad is going to be a pirate theme too. The patches for both are supposed to link together to form a picture. Pretty cool concept. Only one more year of Mom and Me left.

A little bit of every day life

Joseph making pizzas from english muffins.

Laura's class had to make an apple person. We made an apple bird instead.

The scouts raised the flag at the football game.

Lightening struck a tree by the neighbor's driveway.

Plano Balloon Festival

We went to the Plano Balloon Festival this past weekend. There was a sea of people.
We found a spot on the side of the hill and parked it. We all got hot, tired and cranky. However when we were watching the race, the balloon glow and the fireworks, everyone was in a good mood. There was a lot of down time between each event. We had a good time and I got a chance to try out some features on my camara. Here's a few pictures. Enjoy.

Camelias

My camelia bush is loaded with buds. I cut these off before the temp dropped. I hope the freeze didn't get the ones that haven't opened yet.

It does SNOW in Texas!!!

This is what we woke up to this morning. Actually Chad woke me up around 1am. After he woke me up he said, "Well you don't have to look at it if you don't want." Well of course I had to go look but, I forgot to put on my house shoes. Let me just say, I don't like slab floors with tile on them at 1am in the morning. They are not just cold, they are COLD!!! Anyway we were headed back to bed and we heard Paul making noise, so we went in his room to see what the noise was for. He found out it was snowing and had to get up to look too. When we got up, the snow was so deep that Abby was buried. She had fun running around in the snow. It is the first time she has seen it. Schools were not canceled, only delayed 2 hours. The kids did not get a chance to go out and play in the snow before we left. As I was taking Joseph in to his school, I asked him if he wanted to touch the snow. He of course did. He stuck his finger out and went to touch it expecting it to be solid I guess. His finger sank down into the snow and boy he did not like that. He didn't want to touch it again either. It was cold and wet. Anyway the snow is leaving us almost as fast as it came. It sounds like it is raining outside, it is melting so fast.

District Pinewood Derby

Paul raced his car in the District Pinewood Derby. He placed 3rd place in the Bear Division. Joseph, Laura and Chad raced their cars in the Open division again. Nobody won, but they all had fun, especially when they beat daddy. We now have another year to plan cars for the next race.

Laura's party was a pizza party at lunch time. Paul's class decorated cookies right after lunch. Joseph's class made cookies in the morning and then decorated them at snack time in the afternoon.

Over the last 2 days Joseph has decided it is a good thing to go to the bathroom where he is supposed to instead of in his pants!! It may not be exciting to everyone else but it is exciting to me. It means soon I won't have to buy diapers anymore. Woohoo!!

Pinewood Derby

Paul's cub scout pack had their pinewood derby last weekend. He placed 2nd in his division. He only lost one race. He was very happy!! Laura, Joseph and Chad entered card into the open class. Laura and Joseph raced each other the first time they raced. Joseph had fun running to get his car and putting it on the race track. Chad won 3rd place in the open division. He got beat out by Richard(prison guard) and Colleen (she's 5) Colleen won 1st. Ok here's a string of pictures cause I haven't learned how to mix text and pictures.
